Dendrobium Mountain Magic is a hybrid of
Dendrobium cuthbertsonii, less than 3 cm tall, and
Dendrobium pseudoglomeratum,
a very large plant. The smaller parent has reduced the plant size to
around 15 cm but the flowers are still very large, 4 cm long. The plant
blooms several times a year and is more tolerant of warm temperatures
than its
Dendrobium cuthbertsonii parent. My plant is grown in live sphagnum in a plastic net pot with cool temperatures and good humidity and light.
Does there tend to be a lot of variation in the size of this cross? I picked up one from Darrin Norton (D. Mountain Magic 'Real Super') that has bloomed on a plant not much larger than cuthbertsonii.
ReplyDeleteIf yours is blooming on a plant that small there must be quite a bit of variation in size. This plant is 4-6 inches tall. Looked up pictures of your clone and it is really tiny in comparison to mine. If you're ever interested in exchanging pieces let me know.
DeleteMy plant is relatively recent acquisition and is still rather small, but when it's large enough to divide I'll drop you a line.
DeleteThanks, Josh.
DeleteFantastic presentation with the opposing labellum along with the white fiberous canes! You know how to pick your hybrids!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
