Masdevallia strobelii
This is one of my favorite Masdevallias. Masdevallia strobelii is small species from Ecuador in the section Saltatrices, with the typical hair-lined tubular and colorful flowers of that section. It is intensely fragrant, blooms prolifically, has brightly colored flowers and is easy to grow, everything that could be asked. Mine is grown in a plastic net pot in live sphagnum and always blooms several times a year.

is this the same as Masdevallia constricta? One Masdevallia I've contemplated owning since its apparent tolerance to intermediate temperatures :) I assume you grow this cool?
ReplyDeleteThis is not the same as M. constricta. That is a somewhat larger plant and has much larger flowers with a more constricted and longer tube. Both prefer the cool end of intermediate and I grow both cool.
DeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful orchid
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to look and comment!
DeleteI got this species after seeing it on your blog before, and it just bloomed too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's a beauty, isn't it?
