Dendrobium seranicum 'Brendan'

This is my awarded plant of the species.  Dendrobium seranicum is from the island of Seram in the Moluccas, loves cool temperatures and high light, has very long lasting flowers on a miniature plant, and is one of the Oxyglossum Dendrobiums.  The plant is 8 cm tall and the flowers are 3 cm, usually produced in pairs from the top of the pseudobulbs and between the two or three succulent leaves.

  3. Ron, great species and stunning blooming. What award did you get on this species? And the question I always ask, where did you get it? I did manage to find a Dendrobium petiolatum at Andy's.

    1. I believe this also came from Andy's. In any case it has a Certificate of Botanical Recognition from the AOS, not the most exciting award.

  4. Really beautiful Ron! the plant is so healthy, and clumpy... great growing!
Just a side note: D. seranicum is one of the very few Oxyglossum which don't come from Papua! it is from the island of Seram (hence the name), in the Molucca!

    1. You are correct, Laurent. I had forgotten that. Will have to correct that on the posts of this species.
